Company information

History

The origins of HELMOND PRECISIE BV lie way back in 1978, with the purchase of a number of centreless grinders from a bankrupt cycle parts manufacturer, by the company’s founder and director Peter Heessels. During his previous career as a technical purchaser of drive shafts, Heessels had built an en-viable network in the product supply industry.

Joined by administrator and bookkeeper Annie and three employees, the engineer-turned-entrepreneur set out to harness the new team’s combined expertise in Centreless Grinding – notably of tools for stamps, such as punches and ejector pins.
Twelve months on, Centreless Grinding accounted for the bulk of the firm’s turnover.

And despite competition from a handful of established firms,

  • the company quickly outgrew its modest 193m2 building in the Kromme Steenweg,
  • acquiring its own 600m2 building in Burg Krollaan in 1984; premises which it extended to 900m2 shortly thereafter,
  • since 2014 being located on Grasbeemd 7,
  • before adopting the name Helmond Precisie BV in 1986.

Quality was the focus

The company’s focus on the German market dates back over a quarter of a century – to 1992 when, realising the scale of the manufacturing sector in the country, Peter took the decision to participate in the Hannover Industrie Messe. And something else.

To convince potential customers of his firm’s commitment to the very highest quality standards, he also resolved to achieve ISO 9002 (the industry standard for production, installation and servicing) – an ambitious goal at a time when certification was rare, and far from easy to achieve. Nonetheless, he succeeded in his goal. And Helmond Precisie was presented with the award by the highest ranking official responsible for economic affairs, at the Hannover Industrie Messe, becoming the first Helmond based company to be certified.

HP maintains its own Quality Manual to this day – not through obligation, but as a means to en-sure consistently high standards of delivery and support for its customers. And the results of that commitment speak for themselves.

Today that figure hovers around the 75% mark

During its formative years, the firm’s international turnover – derived almost exclusively from Belgium – stood at just one percent. Today that figure hovers around the 75% mark; the lion’s share of which is derived from Germany.

Since 2016, the company has been run entirely by Peter’s daughter, Loes Stockx-Heessels, who’d previously enjoyed ten years’ senior managerial experience within the company. And its revenues continue to enjoy double-digit year on year growth.
